Bikalpa Art Center is calling for applications from those interested in participating in the Trans Studio Project 3.0. We encourage applicants with different professional backgrounds to apply, from Artists and Filmmakers to Engineers and Scientists; we want you to bring your experience to our project.
The Trans Studio Project 3.0 is a three-week intensive transdisciplinary project, that aims to bring together professionals for a myriad of different disciplines, too, in the spirit of collaboration, use collective wisdom to produce individual works of art. The overall aim of this project is to educate society on socio-political issues facing contemporary Nepal through art. This workshop will culminate with a week-long exhibition in the BAC studio.
The BAC will help guide you through this experience, from the original concept to full production. The day-to-day of this project will consist of workshops and panel discussions, a collaboration between participants, and artistic production time. The project will start on Monday the 21st of May and will end Friday the 8th of June with the opening of the exhibition.
We understand that you have your own schedule and you are not obligated to be present for a full-day every day; however, please know that the project only works if each participant is committed to the spirit of collaboration, which means a significant time commitment. Your work, and the work of the group, will benefit the most from the more time you can invest in the project.
By participating in this project, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of participants, learn from expert workshops and panels, and with the guidance of the BAC create a work of art. The opportunity is open to a maximum of five participants.
This project has a limited budget, which will be used to contribute to the cost of raw material participants may need; however, there is no stipend attached.
If you are interested in participating, please email [email protected] with a letter of interest and your portfolio (if applicable).
The theme and medium of this project are open for suggestion and is dependant on the professional backgrounds of the project participants. Previous Trans Studio Project has consisted of mixed media installation pieces, which focused on social, political, and environmental issues.
The submission deadline is Friday the 20th of April 2018.
