The Masterclass Overview
The Master Class at Bikalpa Art Center provides an opportunity for intensive workshops to art students/ professionals and enthusiasts working in a broad spectrum of cultural viewpoints, variety of media, and forms.
This course takes the form of an in-depth studio-based masterclass led by a professional visual art practitioner/ curator Mr. Saroj Mahato. It provides students the opportunity to engage with the practical, theoretical, and conceptual dimensions of a focused area of the study. Taking their studio practice project as a major research framework where students will analyze different approaches to visually shape their ideas into interdisciplinary visual forms.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to identify the historical and theoretical parameters of a specific topic within the broad context of contemporary visual arts practice. They will analyze the relevance and implications of a specific topic to their individual discipline or area of study. The program helps extend their established studio-based skills through experimental and interdisciplinary methods synthesizing new concepts and approaches into their individual area of study. It will also help to reflect upon evaluating their own learning through written and verbal forms of communication.
Workload
98 hours of total student learning time made up from: a) 18 hours of contact: lectures and tutorials, b)36 hours guided studio practice, and c) 44 hours of independent student research, reading, and writing.
Teaching Methods
The course is designed to be conducted completely online considering the pandemic situation as well as a combination of both online and physical studio-based practice and lecture sessions. You may choose whether you want to take it 100% online or a mix of both! To conduct the classes (both online as well as physical), we will be using google classroom. All the unit plans, assessments, exchange/ sharing of reading materials, and other class activities, will be posted/ monitored via Google Classroom.

This program is designed for art enthusiasts, designers, visual arts students, or even professionals to help them extend theoretical, practical, conceptual aw well as studio-based skills through experimental and interdisciplinary methods synthesizing new concepts and approaches into their individual areas of study.
Class Hours and timing
The total hours of physical/online classes are 98 hours which is split into 90 days (90 minutes, three times a week, on weekends Saturday, Sunday 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm and on weekdays Wednesday, 7:30 am – 9:00 am) This time around, the physical class is starting from the 11th of September 2021.
Fees
The total fee for the course is NPR 15000 (The fee will not include any supplies and materials)
